Triple Team Frequently Asked Questions
Triple Team was created to provide the opportunity for recreational pickleball players to compete in a TEAM format. Our creative format allows for a great combination of individual match play with a team scoring format that creates great excitement for the entire match. We look forward to offering players the opportunity to compete in a social and competitive environment with a chance to advance to a National Championship together with their friends.
In 2025, twenty different states ran qualifying leagues or tournaments to select the team to represent their state at the National Championships. Each of these teams participated in the National Championship events in Richmond, VA or Dallas, TX.
In 2026, championships will be held at Sunset Park in Las Vegas, NV and the Single Gender national championships at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, AZ.
Check out the website for a location near you to see the contact information for your area provider. We are excited to add more providers soon.
If you do not see your state listed, contact info@tripleteam.org to find out how to become a Preferred Provider for the next competition season.
Players that do not have a DUPR rating are considered self-rated players and may join the league at the skill level that they (and their team captain) believe to be the best fit.
As matches are played during the season, that player will receive a DUPR rating based on their match scores.
Yes, DUPR is our official ratings partner for Triple Team. All players participating on local league teams must have a DUPR account. All results from local play and the Championship season will be sent to DUPR. Players with less than 10 results on DUPR at the time of registration will be considered "self-rates" and will have a start rating as listed above in the previous FAQ question.
Your rating will LOCK on the day you register for your local league for that season. League Coordinators will provide to the National Tournament Director the rating of each player that qualifies for Nationals as of the day they registered for local league play. Players will not be disqualified if their rating increased over time between initial registration and local play/National Championship.
We have 27 divisions of play for 2026:
** 5.0 divisions are only for the 18+ age group and NOT the 50+ age group
Triple Team offers 3 different leagues: Men's League, Women's League, and Combo League. Men's League and Women's League are the exact same format but obviously for different gendered players. Combo is a different and unique format that includes Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles all in 1 TEAM MATCH.
The skill levels offered for each division and age groups (18+ and 50+) are: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. For the 18+ age division ONLY, we are also offering a 5.0 skill level.
That is a total of 27 different divisions offered at Triple Team 🤯

A team match will have 3 pairs of players competing against the other team’s 3 pairs of players.
There will be 3 rounds of play so that each pair of players will play 2 games to 11 against EACH of the other team’s 3 pairs of players.
Thus – each pair of players will compete in a total of 6 games total for a team match.
For scoring and how to determine a TEAM WIN, please see the Rules section of the Triple Team website.
Each team match in Combo Doubles requires 2 courts for 2 hours. Women's and Men's doubles will be played simultaneously on two adjacent courts for the first round of play, followed by two rounds of Mixed Doubles.
Round = Two games to 11 (win by 2) against the same opponent. Switch sides after the first game.
For scoring and how to determine a TEAM WIN, please see the rules on the Triple Team website.
Teams are allowed to have as many players as they choose on their roster. Since the Gender based divisions need 6 players PER MATCH, we highly recommend having AT LEAST 8-10 players on your team to allow for substitutions (in between matches) and player scheduling issues.
Since the Combo division needs 2 women and 2 men in EACH match, we recommend having AT LEAST 4 women and 4 men on your team.
For the Men’s and Women’s Divisions:
Once the 6 players have been established and partnered during a match, there can be no substitutions or swapping of partners. If there is an injury, please refer to the rules for injury substitutions.
For the Combo Divisions:
The players who compete in the Women’s and Men’s Doubles matches may be different than the players who compete in the Mixed Doubles matches. However, the pairing of players for Round 1 of the Mixed and Round 2 of the Mixed must be the same players in the same pairings.
If there is an injury, please refer to the rules for injury substitutions.
Any player who wants to compete in the National Championship MUST have played in at least TWO matches during local area competition. See "adding new players" below.
Teams are allowed to add TWO additional players to their roster for the National Championships.
Requirements: Player must have competed in at least 2 matches for the local league.
Each team attending Nationals will be guaranteed at least 4 matches: 2 Matches on Day 1 of competition and 2 Matches on Day 2 of competition. The draw in each division will be randomly decided - with all teams competing in one pool of play. Teams may not play all other teams in this one pool - they will play 4 team matches. After the 4 matches of play over the first 2 days are complete, the 4 teams with the best results will move forward into the Final Day of Play (Day 3) with a semifinals and a finals round of play. The team with the best result from the first 2 days will play the team with fourth place result, with the #2 and #3 teams playing against each other in the other semi-final. Medal matches to follow on Day 3 for the Gold/Silver and Bronze/4th place match.
All teams in each division will be randomly placed in the draw, with no teams being seeded in the first two days of competition.
Please see previous FAQ question for how the national championship tournament is setup.
If you play on 2 teams that qualified, for example one for the 18+ and one for the 50+, then you can play in both events.
We do not take into account that players could be on multiple teams when we schedule so that would be up to your team to organize players that might be double-booked on match times.
If your team has already won the qualifying event in your local area, go ahead and register for the National Championships. We will confirm all teams entered with the local league coordinator.
